We've been busy around here which has been the main reason for not updating the blog. I think about it, but don't quite get around to it. Since tomorrow is Valentine's Day, I've been helping Sanaa finish making her Valentines' cards for her classmates. Instead of buying a Valentine's card, I decided Sanaa could just paint and decorate some. It was cheaper since we had everything on hand, plus she LOVES to paint.
For Sanaa's teacher we made a picture with a heart flower bouquet (I saw the idea on Pinterest). For the hearts I used some of the paintings that Sanaa had made a few weeks ago. I cut everything out and Sanaa glued the items down. For her classmates I drew a heart on some blank post cards and let her paint them. She then added some heart stamps. On the back of her classmates cards it says, "Happy Valentine's Day" and has a picture of the classmate it goes to.
Layla doesn't like being left out of craft time so this morning we made puppets out of lunch sacks. Layla had a blast using the glue stick and placing the yarn and other items on the bag.
Sanaa's puppet turned out to be a super hero with a cape and she was very proud of it!
Cooking anything has become quite difficult because the minute I begin pulling out ingredients to start cooking I have two little helpers pushing me out of the way so that they can "help." Most days I'm fairly patient with them, but there are some days I just wish they'd leave me alone because I don't want to clean up after them. On this particular day, I was in a good mood and very patient and let them work together to make their own pizza, which is a good thing since cheese ended up all over the floor!
And finally, in whatever spare time I do have, I've been going through all the clothes the girls have outgrown. One of my cousins helps coordinate a consignment sale in Portland. It's coming up in the middle of March and I'm going to sell all the girl clothes we've accumulated over these past years. So far, I've only gone through the newborn and 0-3 month clothing and it's covering our dining room table. I had no idea we had that much. I still have a couple more boxes to go through but I'm beginning to wonder if I'll get everything priced and tagged in time for the sale.
