16 months

Today Layla is 16 months. I completely missed her 15 month post (as well as aunt Karen's birthday and my birthday) but we were in the midst of moving to Oregon. It's hard to believe we left Texas a month ago and sold our house two months ago.

Layla is definitely a petite child. At her 15 month check up she was only 19 lbs. She fell in the 20-25th percentile for pretty much everything if I remember correctly. We'll see how much she grows by her 18 month check up but with the amount of moving/climbing/mischief she gets into I doubt she'll have gained much weight.

But she does eat a lot! Some mornings she will eat 2 bowls of oatmeal plus some fruit and then start asking for crackers an hour or so later. Currently her favorite food is blackberries. Blackberry bushes grow like weeds out here in Oregon. My parents have A LOT of blackberry bushes and I'll need to take some pictures to show you all. Layla knows right were the bushes are and will point and nod her head when you ask her if she wants some blackberries.

There is one blackberry bush right next to where my dad parks his truck. The rest of bushes are farther down the yard/meadow, so most of the time Layla will head to this bush when she has a blackberry craving. My dad could hardly get his container filled with blackberries because Layla kept eating up every blackberry he picked.

Even Sanaa got into the blackberry picking. At first she wouldn't eat them but now she likes them.

Layla is also a snuggly child. She loves to run up to any of us and give us a hug.

Layla really enjoys seeing herself in a camera or on the computer. She tries to say "cheese" when she's pretending to play with a pretend camera (a.k.a. Nate's alarm clock).

Layla loves her big sister and has started to play with Sanaa more. If Sanaa is laying on the floor Layla will almost always sit on her. Layla also really enjoys playing peek-a-boo with Sanaa.

Layla's quite moments are brief but she will sit and look at a book. She won't sit still long enough for me to read to her. Instead she pulls the book away from me and runs off so that she can sit and look at it by herself.

Like Sanaa, Layla loves being outside. Her favorite activity outside is swinging. Last week we went to a park and both girls ended up swinging for a good 30 minutes.
